Reflecting on luck and why things happen as they do

and so, here I am today having just read my 'defacto cousin's' blog. I say defacto cousin as he is actually my partners cousin which means in some weird and wonderful way I can claim Les as my defacto cousin...If you are reading this Les I hope it makes you smile... just making a quick reflection musing on why things happen when they do...

Is it some strange twist of fate, a destiny unravelling before us. Is it random... I recently discovered that randomness is not that random sometimes. Take the Chaos game for example. No matter how many random throws of the dice are made, if you plot the points the big picture looks very similar. Something like this...

If we plot the happenings in our lives and when they happen and compare them to somebody else' life do we end up with a similar big picture. Is our life path one big fractal pattern emerging over time?

Hmmmmmnnn ... something to think about ... did he turn right for a reason? what is the world trying to achieve. I think of Braveheart and put this out there for you Les ... They can break your leg, but they will never break your spirit. :-)  Get well soon mate!

Looking back - Looking forward

Well, as Robert Plant (Led Zepplin) once sang "It's been a long time since I rock n rolled"  Actually it has been a long time since I wrote in my blog... I have been busy with studies and when not studying, trying to relax and spend time with my family.

This is my final semester -  I will finally graduate. It is exciting, scary, exhilarating, and I must say I am ready to start living a life again. What that life will consist of... who knows... but enough with that.

During the past year and a half I have experienced highs and lows.

A great highlight was the opportunity to spend 4 weeks doing a pre-service placement in remote Northern Territory. I stayed in the community of Yirrkala in North East Arnhem land and also spent three days in the remote homeland of Dhalinybuy.  It was a time I will never forget. Whilst in Dhalinybuy I was honored to be adopted into the Munyarryun family of the Wangurri clan by my Yapa Balang. She named me Dhingu. I was welcomed and embraced by my new family with much warmth. The Yolngu culture is so different from my own and yet I felt so comfortable in my adopted homeland of Dhalinybuy. The concept of time is so far removed from that which I was used to, but I found it very easy to understand how that concept may have evolved. The people of this land have such a strong connection to their song lines and their laws. To hear the singing of the Manikay was such a spiritual experience. It is hard to explain but my own compositions seemed insignificant and shallow against the meaning and spirituality of the Manikay. I have never been able to find the words to explain my experience and I still find it difficult to explain. Suffice to say that I feel extremely blessed to have had that opportunity to meet some very special people who will remain in my heart always.

And so I will try to be more regular with my blogging... and offer up new info as I find it.

I am going to try and make my blogging experience a little more impulsive. Sometimes I may just share a link... at others I may be more talkative... let's see how it evolves.
